Overview
There was an urgent demand to skill future generations with the necessary tech skills aligned with industry and market requirements. The primary need was to connect these skills to employability.
The Future Ready Talent Program, a Brandon Hall Group Gold awardee, was a virtual AI-focused student internship program designed to equip learners with in-demand tech skills and enhance their employability. The program provided 190 hours of self-paced learning in Azure Cloud, AI, and Security, along with industry-aligned sessions and a virtual AI project. Upon completion, students received an internship certificate signed by Microsoft and FutureSkills Prime, as well as job alerts and career opportunities.

What is Future Ready Talent?
The Future Ready Talent program provided students with a 10-week opportunity to learn in-demand skills in Azure Cloud, AI, and Security. It included 190 hours of self-paced learning, industry-aligned sessions, and a virtual AI project. Upon completion, students received an internship certificate signed by Microsoft and FutureSkills Prime, along with job alerts and access to career fairs. They also gained access to the GitHub Student Developer Pack with $100 in Azure credits.
The program was designed with inputs from key stakeholders like Microsoft, GitHub, and AICTE to ensure learners gained industry-relevant skills and boosted their employability. This initiative contributed to India’s goal of strengthening its IT and ITeS sector by skilling students in emerging technologies.
The key objectives of the program aimed for learners to:

Why FutureSkills Prime?
FutureSkills Prime (India’s Technology Skilling Hub) is a joint initiative by nasscom and MeitY, Government of India, played a key role in the program by providing national reach and involving bodies like AICTE.
FutureSkills Prime adopted the virtual skilling model to overcome the challenges posed by the pandemic, collaborating with key partners like Microsoft to ensure high-quality training and real-world applications of technology skills. By partnering with industry leaders, FutureSkills Prime was able to deliver industry-ready courses in emerging areas such as AI, BDA, Cloud Computing, and Cybersecurity. This strong government and industry-backed initiative is the next step in supporting student development.

Delivery of the Program
The program was delivered virtually due to the significant impact of the second wave of the COVID pandemic in India. While this addressed immediate constraints, it also opened the door to large-scale virtual internships, far beyond what physical internships could accommodate. It was unheard of a single internship program having enrollments in thousands and completions in hundreds. The physical infrastructure needed for such scale would have been impossible pre-pandemic. This program opened entirely new possibilities and models, that led to various associated agencies taking this as a template for other possible virtual internship programs. The program was accessible on various platforms, including the AICTE internship portal and the FutureSkills Prime portal, to reach a wider audience.
