UNDERSTANDING THE CLOUD PARADIGM
- Cloud Computing
The magnificent evolution from data distributed computing to process distributed computing to grid computing to the Cloud finally! In the simplest terms, cloud computing means “Internet Computing” and involves connectivity of high-performance hardware, reliable data exchanges, security of data, and storage.
It is amazing that even without knowing, we have all been using Cloud…haven’t we been sending and receiving emails for decades!
Obviously, this is a publicly available service. Cloud can be private or hybrid too.
Albeit, volumes of accurate and not so accurate information is scattered throughout the Internet on Cloud technology, there is always a demand for a simple academic course with precise theoretical concepts and associated hands-on exercises. The cloud computing channel on the FutureSkills PRIME portal perfectly fulfills the above need! Of course, the dynamics of balancing the depth of the topic, pre-requisites and the total time frame is like a tightwalk on a rope. C-DAC has attempted to accomplish this delicate balance with its previous practical expertise and continuous endeavor to predict the future journey of this technology.
Buildingblocks of Cloud Technology
To employ computational devices of heterogeneous capacities for faster and more reliable computational needs, aspects such as Compute, Storage, and Network can all be availed as Services. The exorbitant burden of owning and maintaining computational resources can be taken out of our hands and our minds could stay focused on the solutions to our problems.
Right now, let us simply attempt to familiarize ourselves with the terms Hypervisor, Virtual Machines, Storage Area Networks, Virtual Routers, Containers, Software-Defined Networking (SDN), and so on… Don’t worry. On completion of this course, all these terminologies would have transformed into reality right before your eyes.
